Regularizing Cubic Open Neveu-Schwarz String Field Theory
After introducing non-minimal variables, the midpoint insertion of Y\bar Y in
cubic open Neveu-Schwarz string field theory can be replaced with an operator
N_\rho depending on a constant parameter \rho. As in cubic open superstring
field theory using the pure spinor formalism, the operator N_\rho is invertible
and is equal to 1 up to a BRST-trivial quantity. So unlike the linearized
equation of motion Y\bar Y QV=0 which requires truncation of the Hilbert space
in order to imply QV=0, the linearized equation N_\rho QV=0 directly implies
QV=0.Comment: 6 pages harvmac, added footnote and referenc
More hidden heavy quarkonium molecules and their discovery decay modes
To validate the molecular description of the observed
and , it is valuable to investigate their counterparts,
denoted as in this work, and the corresponding decay modes.
In this work, we present an analysis of the using flavor
symmetry. We also use the effective Lagrangian based on the heavy quark
symmetry to explore the rescattering mechanism and calculate the partial widths
for the isospin conserved channels . The
predicted partial widths are of an order of MeV for ,
which correspond to branching ratios of the order of . For
, the partial widths are a few hundreds of keV and
the branching ratios are about . Future experimental measurements can
test our predictions on the partial widths and thus examine the molecule
description of heavy quarkoniumlike exotic states.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures; accepted by Phys. Rev.
Charge response function and a novel plasmon mode in graphene
Polarizability of non-interacting 2D Dirac electrons has a 1/\sqrt{qv-\omega}
singularity at the boundary of electron-hole excitations. The screening of this
singularity by long-range electron-electron interactions is usually treated
within the random phase approximation. The latter is exact only in the limit of
N -> infinity, where N is the ``color'' degeneracy. We find that the
ladder-type vertex corrections become crucial close to the threshold as the
ratio of the n-th order ladder term to the same order RPA contribution is
(\ln|qv-\omega|)^n/N^n$. We perform analytical summation of the infinite series
of ladder diagrams which describe excitonic effect. Beyond the threshold,
qv>\omega, the real part of the polarization operator is found to be positive
leading to the appearance of a strong and narrow plasmon resonance.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, typos correcte
Thermal Geo-axions
We estimate the production rate of axion-type particles in the core of the
Earth, at a temperature T~5000K. We constrain thermal geo-axion emission by
demanding a core-cooling rate less than 100K/Gyr, as suggested by geophysics.
This yields a "quasi-vacuum" (unaffected by extreme stellar conditions) bound
on the axion-electron fine structure constant \alpha_a^{QV} < 10^{-18},
stronger than the existing accelerator (vacuum) bound by 4 orders of magnitude.
We consider the prospects for measuring the geo-axion flux through conversion
into photons in a geoscope; such measurements can further constrain
\alpha_a^{QV}.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur
Nonparametric estimation of the local Hurst function of multifractional Gaussian processes
A new nonparametric estimator of the local Hurst function of a
multifractional Gaussian process based on the increment ratio (IR) statistic is
defined. In a general frame, the point-wise and uniform weak and strong
consistency and a multidimensional central limit theorem for this estimator are
established. Similar results are obtained for a refinement of the generalized
quadratic variations (QV) estimator. The example of the multifractional
Brownian motion is studied in detail. A simulation study is included showing
that the IR-estimator is more accurate than the QV-estimator
A complementary method for detecting qi vacuity
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Qi vacuity (QV) is defined by traditional Chinese medicine as a loss of energy in the human body. An objective method for detecting QV was not available until recently, however. The automatic reflective diagnosis system (ARDK) is a device that detects human bioenergy through measuring skin conductance at 24 special acupoints on the wrists and ankles.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>This study used the ARDK to measure skin conductance on 193 patients with QV and 89 sex- and age-matched healthy controls to investigate whether the device is useful in detecting QV. Patients diagnosed with QV have three or more of five symptoms or signs; symptom severity is measured on 5 levels and scored from 0 to 4 points. We compared the difference in the mean ARDK values between patients with QV and healthy controls, and further used linear regression analysis to investigate the correlation between the mean ARDK values and QV scores in patients diagnosed with QV.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The mean ARDK values in patients with QV (30.2 ± 16.8 μA) are significantly lower than those of healthy controls (37.7 ± 10.8 μA; <it>P </it>< 0.001). A negative correlation was found between the mean ARDK values and QV scores (<it>r </it>coefficient = -0.61; <it>P </it>< 0.001). After adjusting for age, the decreased mean ARDK values in patients with QV showed a significant correlation with the QV scores.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>These results suggest that the mean ARDK values reflect the severity of QV in patients diagnosed with the disorder. They also suggest that the bioenergy level of the human body can be measured by skin conductance. ARDK is a safe and effective complementary method for detecting and diagnosing QV.</p
Penguatan Moderasi Beragama dalam al-Quran: Sebuah Kajian Tematik
Strengthening religious moderation is very important to be discussed again because the potential for social conflict among the community is exist. In this case, no matter how small the problems that exist in society, we must remain vigilant given the potential for violent conflict, which is often linked to the religion. Therefore, it is very important to study the verses of the Quran related to strengthening religious moderation, especially in qv. al-Baqarah/2: 143, qv. al-Rum/30: 30, qv. al-Maidah/5: 8, and qv. Ali Imran/3: 110. This study aims to explore strengthening religious moderation in the Quran. This research is a literature research with a thematic interpretation study approach which is presented descriptively. The results showed that qv. al-Baqarah/2: 143 is a basic guide for human behavior that must be balanced or moderate. Another guide to moderation is stated in the qv. al-Rum/30: 30, qv. al-Maidah/5: 8, and qv. Ali Imran/3:110 to always side with the truth, uphold justice, invite goodness, and leave badness
